CPI $1,000 Champion of
Equine Service Scholarship
Sponsored by The EQUUS Foundation

The EQUUS Foundation and the College Preparatory Invitational are pleased to announce the establishment of the $1,000 CPI Champion of Equine Service Scholarship to stimulate volunteerism and advocacy on behalf of horses and people who can benefit from the horse’s unique ability to empower, teach and heal.

Eligibility


Applicants are limited to those individuals who:
1) were accepted to participate at the CPI Horse Show on January 13-15, 2012 and will have at least one semester of post-secondary school education to complete as of May 1, 2013;
2) perform 24 or more hours of community service for an organization or organizations on The EQUUS Foundation carrots4acause network during the calendar year ending December 31, 2012 thereby achieving Champion status as defined by The EQUUS
Foundation; such hours to be logged in on The EQUUS Foundation website by December 31, 2012, and such hours to be verified by the organization(s) and The EQUUS Foundation;
3) have a GPA of 3.00 or above.

Rules

  • To participate, the individual must sign up on the carrots4acause network at http://www.equusfoundation.org.
  • The individual is responsible for logging in the hours volunteered prior to December 31, 2012 11:59 PM, Eastern Standard Time
  • All volunteer hours must be verified by The EQUUS Foundation and the organization(s) for which service was provided. The EQUUS Foundation reserves the right to disqualify any hour(s) deemed questionable.
  • In order to be considered for the scholarship, the individual must complete the online application by February 15, 2013.
  • The applicant will be required to upload a current school transcript with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above as part of the scholarship application.
  • The applicant will be required to upload a current photo as part of the scholarship application.
  • By completing and submitting an application, the applicant gives permission to The EQUUS Foundation to ask people to review the application and to give advice and information to the Foundation.
  • Materials submitted to The EQUUS Foundation as part of the application process become the property of the Foundation and will not be returned. The materials will be used as the Foundation deems appropriate, and are not subject to any right of confidentiality unless specifically agreed to in writing by The EQUUS Foundation.
  • The EQUUS Foundation is under no obligation to fund or otherwise have a future relationship with the applicant.
  • The EQUUS Foundation will select and notify the scholarship recipient by May 1, 2013; the number of hours of community service over and above the 24-hour minimum requirement and the impact of the community service will be taken into consideration in the selection process.
  • Upon submission of proof of enrollment in writing by the recipient to The EQUUS Foundation, The EQUUS Foundation will disburse the $1,000 to the educational institution of the recipient. Eligible educational institutions include colleges, universities, trade schools or vocational schools with a 501c3 IRS tax exempt status.
  • The recipient agrees to allow The EQUUS Foundation and the College Preparatory Invitational the right to publicize the recipient’sname on its website, email communications, and printed materials.
  • The recipient will be solely responsible for any federal, state or local taxes.

    The CPI Champion of Equine Service Scholarship is part of the Champions program of The EQUUS Foundation, an incentive-based equine service volunteer program to recognize and reward individuals and organizations on the carrots4acause network.

    Champion of Equine Service Scholarships: All eligible applicants for the CPI scholarship are also automatically eligible to apply for the EQUUS Foundation Champion of Equine Service scholarships. A minimum of five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded on or before May 1, 2013.

    Win a Grant for your Favorite Charity: All eligible applicants for the CPI scholarship will also be automatically entered into a drawing where the winner may select a 501(c)(3) public charity or eligible government entity on the carrots4acause network to receive an EQUUS Foundation grant. A minimum of $5,000 in one or more grants will be awarded. The drawing will be conducted on or before May 1, 2013
